The Jamison Family

This story is as strange as they come. While it isn't the most obscure, I definitely do not recall seeing this on the news at any point while it was happening. I actually learned about this through a video I had watched years ago about strange disappearances and it has always bothered me because there is hardly any information out there. I looked through several articles and they all say pretty much the same thing. What makes this story interesting though, is what happened on the days leading up to their disappearances.

On October 8, 2009, Bobby (44) and his wife Sherilynn (40) along with their 6 year old daughter Madyson, left their home in Eufaula, Oklahoma and were never seen alive again. The day they left their home, the family can be seen on their security cameras loading up their truck. At first glance, nothing seems out of the ordinary but many who have seen the video state that Bobby and Sherilynn seemed to be in a trance. Neither was speaking to one another as they mindlessly traveled back and forth from their truck

to their home. Investigators who saw the entire length of the footage state that the couple switched clothing several times and even unloaded some of the items they had already loaded into the truck and took them back in the house only to load them back a few minutes later.

Where they were going is not exactly known, but it is reported that the Jamison's had talked about wanting to purchase some land in Red Oak (about 30 miles (48km) from Eufaula) and that is where many have thought they were heading to.

After 4 days of no contact, their families began to worry. Nobody had any other clues as to where they could have gone.

Investigators immediately suspected foul play when their truck was found only a few days later in Latimer County, Oklahoma. Inside the vehicle, police found the Jamison's dog Maisie, still alive but badly malnourished. They also recovered Bobby and Sharilynn's ID's, wallets, cell phones, GPS and about $32,000 in cash. Though it was a large quantity of money, many of those who knew the Jamison's stated that it wasn't unlike them to carry large sums of cash.

They also discovered an eerie cell phone photo of Madyson taken on the day they went missing. Nobody knows exactly where or why it was taken.

Upon further inspection, police also noticed that something was missing from their vehicle. In the security camera footage from the day they went missing, you can see Sharilynn loading a brown briefcase into the truck but both the briefcase and her small caliber hand gun have never been recovered. To this day, police suspect that the briefcase held an important clue as to what may have happened to the family.

On November 16, 2013, two hunters found partial skeletal remains in a remote area of Latimer County. The remains were found less than 3 miles (4.5km) from where the Jamison's vehicle was recovered. They appeared to belong to 2 adults and a small child. Though it seemed likely that this was them, police had to wait until the medical examiner could positively identify the remains. It would take extensive amounts of both anthropological and forensic pathological testing to figure out the true identity of the skeletons found, but on July 3, 2014, the medical examiner determined that the remains indeed belonged to Bobby, Sharilynn and Madyson Jamison. Unfortunately, due to the advanced state of decomposition, no cause of death could be determined.

Since the discovery of their bodies, many theories have surfaced. One of the biggest involves someone in their own family possibly doing them harm. Back in 2008, Bobby claims that his father, Bob Dean Jamison, had struck him with his vehicle and had also previously threatened the family. There was also a bitter lawsuit between the two and though cops do not believe Bobby's father had anything to do with it, others are not so sure. Another theory is that the Jamison's may have possibly been involved in shady businesses such as drug dealing. Investigators seem to think that it's a real possibility citing that the large amounts of cash and the strange behavior before their disappearance could be tied to that. This seems to be the most plausible of the theories since several pain killer bottles belonging to Bobby were found in the vehicle.

The last theory, and probably the most bizarre, is that the Jamison's were being haunted by evil spirits and were forced out of their home where they ultimately met their demise. This theory is backed up by several accounts claiming that both Bob and Sharilynn had told their pastor on previous occasions that their home was haunted and they could see spirits all over their home. In an interview with Crime Watch Daily, Bobby's mother, Starlet Jamison, stated that her daughter-in-law was known to dabble in the occult. According to her, Sharilynn had claimed to have cast demons out of someone. She also seemed interested in witchcraft and had written strange things involving supernatural beings in a storage container near her home.

Unfortunately, we may never know the real truth behind what happened to Bob, Sharilynn and their daughter, Madyson. Their families insist that they may have been murdered due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They have been interviewed over the years stating that the only explanation is that they maybe saw something someone did not want them to see, though they cannot fathom anyone wanting to hurt a child.

To this day, nothing new is known and that mysterious, brown briefcase along with their handgun are nowhere to be found.
